AMP Symposia - From Vision to Practice - Itegrated Medical and Behavioral Heath Strategies

Registration is closed for this event
This symposia is being sponsored by the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry since it is primarily an organization of jointly trained family practice/psychiatrists and internal medicine/psychiatrists who specialize in the delivery of services at the interface of medical and BH care. Meeting attendees will be chosen on a first come-first serve basis to represent a mix of stakeholders involved health care: 1) Purchasers for populations (employers, government agencies); 2) payment for health services (health plans); 3) system-level delivery of care (hospital systems, ACOs); 4) clinical-level delivery of care (physicians, nurses, other); 5) professional organizations; and 6) consumers of care (patients, advocacy groups). Potential attendees are encouraged to register for the pre-conference early since a final selection process will be used to maximize multi-stakeholder representation.

Objectives:  At the completion of this symposia,

  1. Each of the mixed stakeholders will understand clinical, administrative, and fiscal factors that contribute to fragmented medical and BH care and high cost from the perspective of their participation in the health care system.

  2. Each of the mixed stakeholders buying, building, providing, or receiving care in CINs will be able to answer the question about whether subcontracted BH service delivery is preferable to making BH providers a core part of the CIN/ACO.

  3. Each of the mixed stakeholders will develop an understanding about fiscal and clinical inpatient and outpatient solutions to poor medical and BH outcomes and associated high cost from their perspective as they contribute to care delivery and payment reform.

  4. Each of the mixed stakeholders will gain an appreciation for challenges faced by other stakeholders in health care delivery and financing and to begin formulating collaborative solutions.
