  • Review the prevalence of firearms in the U.S.
  • Examine how this affects number of suicide deaths where guns are numerous, and how impulsivity makes this a problem.
  • Look at other examples of means reduction affects suicide death.
  • What efforts could be done to mitigate these problems.

Nathan Russell Harper, MD

Dr. Harper completed Medical School at West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his residency in combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine/Vidant Medical Center. He then completed his fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Consult/ Liaison Psychiatry. Dr. Harper is currently the Medical Director of the in-patient Behavior Health Unit at Vidant Medical Center and also supervises the Consult and ED psychiatry services and Internal Medicine Residency Clinic.
