Shannon Tyler, MD, FAPA

Dr. Tyler graduated from ECU Brody School of Medicine in 1997 then completed residency in the ECU Dept of Psychiatry in 2001.

She joined the ECU Brody SOM in 2004. She served as the director of the Consult-Liaison and Emergency Psychiatry services for several years until she became training director for the Adult Psychiatry program in March, 2020.

Most recently she served as Chief of Staff at Vidant Medical Center in 2021 and is currently serving as Chief of Staff Past. 

During her academic career she has been focused on patient care, medical education at both the medical student and graduate medical education levels, and service to the organization.

Currently, she serves on several hospital committees and is developing wellness initiatives throughout the hospital to combat both physician burnout and moral injury.
