Octavia Lewis

Octavia Y. Lewis, MPA is an Activist, Advocate, Humanitarian, Mother and Scholar.  Octavia is the Transgender Health Coordinator for the TransWellness Centers at Montefiore, which specializes in a holistic approach to healthcare for TGNB people in the Bronx and Beyond.  She understands the many nuances and intersectionality’s of the World in which she exists and therefore aligns herself with those who are in agreeance for the betterment of the TGNB Community. 

She is a Board Member of PWN-USA (Positive Women Network-USA), Positively Trans Advisory Board Member, Board Member for the Center of Transgender Excellence at UCSF and a Member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Manhattan Chapter.  Her mentor, Avery Wyatt, MPH taught her “That People Do Not Care How Much You Know, Until They Know How Much You Care”.

Sundeep S. Boparai (he/him/his) is an American-Sikh who identifies with the LGBTQIA+ community. Sundeep, has created a social media platform, KingSunnyB, highlighting awareness and visibility through his intersectionality of being a Gay Sikh man. He created this platform in an effort to raise awareness within the South Asian community and be the role model he needed growing up. He has leveraged this platform to help many LGBTQIA+ individuals struggling with access to healthcare and various other resources. He is a model & influencer, magazine brand ambassador, LGBTQ activist and a Healthcare Administrator for Northwell Health where he oversees the LGBTQ Transgender Program at New Hyde Park. Sundeep holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Hofstra University. Currently, Sundeep is obtaining his doctorate from the Medical University of South Carolina focusing on healthcare administration and public policy. The LGBTQ Transgender Program is a safe space for the Queer, Transgender and Non-Binary communities. The Center provides comprehensive services in a culturally competent manner to address many of the health needs of the Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming communities. In addition to his modeling and working at the Center, Sundeep has appeared on Podcasts with Joty Kay, Reenu Dhillion and Sundeep Morrison which can be found on Spotify and Apple music.

Dr. E. Vanessa Spearman-McCarthy

Dr. E. Vanessa Spearman-McCarthy is the Associate Dean for Learner, Diversity, and Inclusion as well as an Associate Professor with dual appointments in the departments of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. Outside of Augusta University, she serves as the Chair of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee as well as the Chair of the Health and Wellness Committee for the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC).

 

Dr. Alyson Myers

Dr. Alyson Myers is the Associate Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Department of Medicine at Montefiore/Albert Einstein in the Bronx and serves as an adjunct Associate Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She has several publications on the topics of diabetes disparities and diabetes technology and has been a reviewer for several journals including, Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology and Diabetes Care. Dr. Myers also serves on the American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
