Summary:
Join Dr. Victor Rodríguez for a review of Transgender Health in the Primary Care Med/Psych setting.
Objectives:
- Assess a provider's role in evaluating a patient's readiness for gender-affirming care, including the assessment of medical, psychological, and social factors to ensure informed, patient-centered decision-making.
- Understand the epidemiology and health disparities of transgender and gender-diverse populations.
- Apply evidence-based guidelines to clinical practice set forth by the WPATH SOC8 in the Primary Care Med/Psych setting.

Dr. Victor Rodríguez:
Dr. Victor H. Rodríguez is a physician completing a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Tulane University School of Medicine. A graduate of Texas A&M University College of Medicine, Dr. Rodríguez also holds a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences. His interests in medicine emphasize culturally informed care, particularly within underserved and Latinx communities. Currently, he teaches Tulane medical students on cultural psychiatry, fostering a deeper understanding of the role of culture in mental health care.
Dr. Rodríguez has been extensively involved with the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), holding national and regional leadership roles during medical school and continuing this involvement as a resident to support the next generation of Latino physicians. As a gay man, he is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all his patients, which drives his ongoing learning and advocacy on topics related to the LGBTQIA+ community. His ultimate goal in practice is to create a safe and welcoming space for individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable and compassionate care for all.
