James Jackson

James was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Carleton College where he majored in Russian. James then returned to Kentucky to complete his medical studies at the University of Kentucky in the global health track. He went on to a combined residency program in family medicine and psychiatry at the University of Iowa, where he participated in a longstanding partnership with Northwestern State Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia with the dept of family medicine. After residency, he completed a one-year fellowship in global mental health through the UCSF-HEAL Initiative in the Navajo Nation and Nepal. He then joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Dept of Family Medicine to spend the 2021-22 academic year in Kazakhstan supporting medical primary care and mental health education at Nazarbayev University. James is currently a fellow in hospice and palliative medicine at the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship.
